Welcome to Tiny Worlds!

The Home Crafters' first-ever Diorama Challenge is here!

This summer, we're inviting hobbyists of all ages to create an incredible miniature scene on a 4-inch wooden base inspired by one simple theme...

☀️ Summer

How you interpret that theme is entirely up to you.

Collect a free base. Build your Tiny World. Submit your creation.

how the Tiny Worlds Challenge works...

follow these simple steps to take part

step one...

collect your base

Collect your FREE official 4-inch wooden Tiny Worlds challenge base from The Home Crafters. Every entrant receives one base (while stocks last), providing an identical starting point for every competitor and ensuring a level playing field.

This small wooden disc is the foundation of your creation and the only item supplied for the challenge. From here, what you build is entirely up to you! If you can't visit us in person, don't worry—we're happy to send a challenge base anywhere in the UK for our standard delivery charge, so everyone has the opportunity to take part.

step two...

build your tiny world

Create your miniature world on the official 4-inch challenge base. Any modelling style or genre is welcome—Warhammer, fantasy, historical, railway scenery, dollhouses, sci-fi, fairies, dinosaurs, or something completely unique. Use any materials you like and let your imagination run wild.

Your finished diorama must fit entirely within the edge of the base, without extending or overhanging beyond it. It should also be securely constructed and sturdy enough to be safely handled and transported, as all entries will need to be brought into the shop for judging and exhibition.

step three...

submit your entry

Once your diorama is complete, take several clear photographs and complete the online entry form. You'll need to enter the unique challenge number printed on the base you collected, upload your photos, give your creation a title, and tell us a little about the inspiration behind your Tiny World.

After your entry has been approved, it will appear in our online gallery for everyone to enjoy. Then, during the last week of August, simply bring your completed diorama into The Home Crafters to be displayed as part of the Tiny Worlds Exhibition, where it will be judged alongside all the other fantastic entries.

Questions?...

What is Tiny Worlds 2026?

Tiny Worlds 2026 is The Home Crafters' Summer Diorama Challenge. It's an open competition inviting you to create a miniature world on a 4-inch wooden base. Whether you're into Warhammer, fantasy, historical models, railway scenery, dollhouses, sci-fi, fairies, dinosaurs or something completely unique, we'd love to see what you can create. The competition runs from 1st July to 31st August 2026.

Can beginners enter?

Absolutely! Tiny Worlds is for everyone — from first-time creators to seasoned hobbyists. There's no minimum skill level required. We celebrate progress, creativity, and passion at every stage of your hobby journey. Your unique vision is what matters.

Is there an entry fee?

No — entering Tiny Worlds is completely free. You'll also receive a FREE official 4-inch wooden challenge base (one per entrant while stocks last).

What can I create on my 4-inch base?

Anything you can imagine! Create a diorama, a scene, a moment in time, or a narrative display. Any modelling style, any genre — Warhammer, fantasy, historical, railway scenery, dollhouses, sci-fi, fairies, dinosaurs or something completely unique. Commercial, handmade and 3D printed parts are all allowed. The only requirement is that your work is original and suitable for public display.

What do I need to submit?

Submit your entry online by 31st August 2026 with:
• 3–5 photographs of your diorama from different angles
• A title for your creation
• A short description or story about your tiny world

Clear, well-lit photos help us review your entry properly and showcase your work in the online gallery.

What happens after I submit?

Once you've submitted your entry, we'll review it and add it to our online gallery. You'll receive a unique entry number that you can use to track your submission. After the deadline, selected entries will be invited to bring their dioramas into the shop for the Tiny Worlds Exhibition at the end of August.

Do I have to bring my diorama into the shop?

Online entries are welcome and will be featured in our gallery. However, only dioramas brought into the shop during Exhibition Week (end of August) are eligible to win prizes. If your entry is shortlisted, we'll contact you with full instructions on how and when to bring your creation in.
