Bringing you colourful chaos and creative cheer,
one month at a time!

October 2026

Hey hey! Dotty here!

How on earth is it October already?!

September was certainly not a quiet one here at The Home Crafters. Pokémon finally landed, our workshops continued, lots of lovely new stock arrived and we somehow seem to have gone from summer crafting to pumpkins and Christmas almost overnight.

The darker evenings are creeping in, the yarn is looking increasingly tempting and there’s definitely that familiar feeling of “perhaps I should start making the Christmas presents now…”

So grab yourself a cuppa and let’s catch up…

After all the waiting, date changes and frantic refreshing of supplier updates, the Pokémon 30th Celebration has finally started arriving!

September saw us working our way through the first wave of pre-orders, with more products and restocks continuing to arrive in separate allocations throughout October.

Looking for restocks?
As further stock arrives, we’ll be releasing selected restocks as short online pre-orders for our local customers, so make sure you’re following our social pages for announcements.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has ordered from us, collected from the shop and been so patient while our tiny team has worked through what has been a rather bonkers few weeks!

We also held our very first Pokémon prize draw in September — and after selling the very last tickets on draw day, our Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box found its lucky new home. We had so much fun with it that we’re hoping to do another Pokémon draw in the future!

🧶 Fancy Learning to Crochet?

Our new Crochet for Beginners sessions are now underway!

Running fortnightly on Friday mornings, these friendly sessions are designed for complete beginners who want to get to grips with the basics without feeling as though everyone else in the room already knows what they’re doing.

Never picked up a crochet hook before?
Perfect! That’s exactly who these sessions are for. 🧶

We’ve got some fabulous new Splat Planet Wooden Art Craft Kits arriving this month!

These aren’t just simple paint sets — each kit includes layered wooden pieces which are painted individually and then assembled to create a colourful finished piece of 3D artwork.

Dotty says: We love a craft kit that gives you something fun to do and something lovely to show for it at the end!

We’ve got a range of designs to choose from, including cats, dogs, dinosaurs and more — with the wooden pieces, paints, brushes and glue all included, so they’re ready to enjoy straight out of the box.

They’re ideal for rainy afternoons, half-term activities and crafty weekends, but they’d also make a brilliant choice for a little early Christmas present buying. 🎁 If you’ve got creative children, grandchildren or crafty gift recipients to think about, these are well worth a look.

The new Splat Planet range will be available in store and online very shortly.

🎃 Autumn Crafting Season Is Officially Here

October has arrived, which gives us full permission to embrace pumpkins, cosy colours, spooky makes and absolutely anything involving yarn and a blanket.

Whether you’re planning Halloween decorations, autumn wreaths, papercraft projects, cosy crochet, needle felting or simply looking for an excuse to start something new, there’s plenty of seasonal inspiration around the shop.

October crafting essentials:
Pumpkins, yarn, paint, glue, snacks and the confidence to declare that the dining table is now a craft station until further notice.

Our seasonal giftware is also making its way into the shop, so there are plenty of lovely little autumn treats to discover alongside your craft supplies.

🍁 A Cosy Little Autumn Make

Fancy a simple seasonal project that looks far more impressive than the effort involved?

Grab a clean glass jar, some autumn leaves or leaf-shaped paper pieces and a little Mod Podge, then build up the design around the outside of the jar in thin layers.

Once dry, add a little twine or ribbon around the top and pop an LED tealight inside for a warm autumn glow.

Easy autumn décor idea:
Use tissue paper, paper leaves or lightweight decorative pieces rather than anything too thick, so the light can still shine through.

It’s a lovely little project for a cosy afternoon and would make a sweet table decoration, windowsill light or handmade seasonal gift.

🎨 Hobby News: Warhammer Tone Pro Is Coming!

Games Workshop has announced a huge new paint range for miniature painters — Warhammer Tone Pro.

The range features 30 colours, each available in five different tones, giving painters 150 new shades designed to make building shadows, mid-tones and highlights much easier.

Will we be stocking all 150 colours straight away?
Probably not — mostly because we first need to work out where on earth we would fit another full paint rack! 😂

However, from the end of October you’ll still be able to order individual Warhammer Tone Pro colours through us, just as you can with any other Warhammer product that we don’t normally keep on the shelf.

And if the new paints prove popular locally, let us know! If enough of you tell us you’d genuinely like to see the full range in store, we’ll start looking very seriously at how we might squeeze that rather impressive rack of 150 colours into The Home Crafters.

Challenge accepted... possibly. 😅

🎄 We’re Going to Have to Say the C-Word...

Christmas.

There. We said it.

It might only be October, but anyone planning handmade gifts knows that December has an annoying habit of arriving approximately five minutes after Halloween.

Our Christmas crafting supplies are beginning to creep back into the shop, so now is a very good time to start gathering everything you need for handmade cards, decorations, gifts and festive projects.

Dotty’s advice: Start the handmade Christmas presents now. Not because we’re organised... but because we remember what happened last December. 😂

🎁 Don’t Forget Our Handmade Gifts

Of course, you don’t have to make everything yourself!

The Home Crafters is also home to a wonderful collection of products created by independent makers, giving you the chance to find something a little different while supporting small creative businesses at the same time.

We have been promised an influx of new, festive stock from our makers this month, so be sure to pop in regularly to see what's new!

We’ll be sharing plenty of gift ideas as we head towards Christmas, so if you’re determined not to leave all of your shopping until December 23rd this year, keep an eye on us. 👀

Every purchase from an independent shop or maker really does make a difference — and we promise to do a little happy dance whenever you choose us.

💡 Dotty’s Craft Hack of the Month

The Glitter & Embossing Powder Saver

Working with glitter, embossing powder or any other tiny craft material that seems determined to spread itself across the entire house?

Place a clean sheet of paper underneath your project before you start. When you’re finished, gently fold the paper in half to create a little channel and use it to pour the excess straight back into the pot.

Less waste, less mess and considerably less time spent attempting to scoop tiny sparkly bits off the table with your fingernail.

Dotty’s hack:
Give the paper a sharp crease before you start — it makes pouring everything back into those annoyingly tiny pots much easier.

Will this prevent glitter from appearing somewhere completely unrelated three weeks later? Absolutely not. Glitter makes its own rules.

🗓️ What’s Coming Next?

There’s plenty happening throughout October, and things certainly aren’t showing any signs of slowing down!

Keep an eye out for:

  • More Pokémon 30th Celebration stock and restocks
  • Fortnightly Crochet for Beginners sessions
  • New workshops and creative sessions for children and adults
  • More Warhammer releases, paints and hobby arrivals
  • Halloween, autumn and Christmas crafting inspiration
  • More handmade gifts and seasonal goodies arriving in store

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for new stock, workshop spaces, Pokémon updates and all the crafty chaos as it happens.
